Marco Catini was born in Switzerland and is a New Jersey based freelance photographer. Marco has been volunteering at competitions, fundraisers and public events for Special Olympics New Jersey since 2014, and for Special Olympics USA since 2018. In this function he has covered anything from local events to World Games in Abu Dhabi. He also creates in-depth stories about individual athletes, some of them over the course of several months and at places as diverse as ice skating rinks, ski slopes, tennis courts, work places, and schools. Marco’s work has been exhibited in local businesses, galleries, and museums.
Marco Catini will illustrate how finding his love for visual storytelling helped him grow as a human and as a photographer. He will share from his experience and learnings, ranging from small personal projects, to local Special Olympics New Jersey events, all the way to the Special Olympics World Games 2019 in Abu Dhabi. Some of the topics that will be discussed: • How to find your photographic voice. • How to find a charity to volunteer for: what’s in it for me, what’s in it for them? • How to apply storytelling angles to a wide range of topics.
