This is a virtual meeting on Zoom for SCC Members only.  

Photographing refracted images within water droplets reveals the beauty of simple physics and opens the creative doors to unlimited possibilities in macro photography. It can be complex or simple, even done with a phone camera. This presentation is designed to understand the elements that come together as well as the problems you'll encounter. You'll walk away with endless creative ideas to explore.

Don Komarechka is a Canadian nature and macro photographer now living near Varna, Bulgaria. From auroras to pollen, insects to infrared, much of Don’s photographic adventures reveal a deeper understanding of how the universe works. Exploring the world that we cannot see with our own eyes has been a common thread in Don’s career as a professional photographer.

Always science-minded but never formally trained, Don uses photography as a way to explore and understand the world around him. Photographing something unusual or unknown is the perfect excuse to learn something new. SCC Members can submit 4 photos on Photo Contest Pro.  The photos must be consistent with the theme of Botany and cannot contain any man made objects or areas.  This includes, fences, posts, grass, roads, cut wood, walks, etc.  

Botany includes plants, hybrid plants, flowers and Fungi.  

This contest is for SCC members only.  

Non members are welcome to attend the meeting but cannot submit photos.

Frank Smith is a travel and landscape photographer.  His presentation, Landscape Photography Challenges, will cover landscape and travel photography and the challenges of getting exposures right, especially in low/difficult light.  He will discuss how to effectively leverage light including long exposure, Neutral Density and ND graduated filters and other techniques from handheld to tripod in various light conditions.  

Frank is internationally recognized and as an OM System Ambassador, he explores and teaches the creative possibilities of modern computational photography.  

This meeting will be in person at the Sparta Ambulance Building.  The speaker will be virtual.
