Club Meeting - Antiques and Junk Competition

  • Wednesday, October 24, 2012
  • 7:30 PM
  • Sparta Ambulance Building

Competition Theme:  Antiques and Junk

Judge:  Henry (Hank) Pawlak

CORRECTION:  Original notice said that the image had to be "no longer than 768 pixels" on the longest side.  The correct wording is "the image should be 768 pixels on the longest side".  With the former, images may be submitted that would not be usable for the competition.

Our first competition for the 2012-2013 season, will be the subject of antiques and junk.

Antique:  A collectible object such as a piece of furniture or work of art that has a high value because of its considerable age.

Junk: Old or discarded articles that are considered useless or of little value.

Photographs of antiques and junk can tell a compelling story and have the viewer wondering the role the object once had in it's prime and finding those objects can be half the fun.

We hope that our new members will enter this competition. It's a lot of fun and a great way to learn. If you have any questions about the competition or how to enter - please ask by emailing info@spartacameraclub.org.

Prints (Matted, not framed) should be brought to the meeting before 7:45 p.m. so they can be logged in and entered.  They should be labeled on the back (top left corner) with the photographers name, the title of the image, and the class to be entered (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced).

Digital entries should be emailed to gina.pierson@gmail.com Digital entries should be 768 pixels on the longest side.  They must be received by midnight, Monday, October 22, 2012.  The subject must be "junk CLASS" where CLASS is the class you wish to compete in (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced).

Competition entrants must be club members. The best way to pay is to go to the club website (www.spartacameraclub.org) and select the tab which says "Join Us" and then select the level of membership which meets your needs (Individual, Family, or Student) and follow the process to pay either via Paypal or credit card.  If this doesn't work for you, you can pay the Treasurer, Betty Herb, (cash or check) at the meeting before the competition.
