We are moving the White Lake Outing from Thursday to Friday, July 31, 2026 due to the weather.   It will be warmer and sunnier on Friday which will encourage the butterflies and dragonflies to be out and about.

Date:  Friday, July 31, 9 AM to Noon

Location:  White Lake Natural Resource Area:  Stillwater Road, Hardwick Township, NJ 07825.  Meet in the parking lot for a group photo at 9 AM.  

White Lake is a great place to photograph dragonflies, butterflies and wildflowers.  This year Sean Garvin will conduct a learning session on how to use flash and various flash filters and techniques to photograph insects and butterflies during out Outing. 

What to bring:  a hat, bug spray, a tripod and a telephoto and/or macro lens. If you are interested in learning how to use flash, bring an external flash unit (on camera speedlight) and/or camera specific trigger & off camera flash.  Sean has several Godox Flashes, on and off camera.  You will need a godox trigger for your camera brand if you wish to use them (He has Sony). Small LED lights and lumi- cubes will also work.

The club will hold an outing at the Sussex County Fair on Tuesday, August 4th at 5:30 pm.  We will meet at the Richards Building, where the Photography in Sussex County Photography Exhibit is located. We will check out the horse competitions, get some night shots at the Midway, and shoot other exhibits while we are there.

This outing is for SCC Members & their friends and family only.

September 9, 7:30 pm.  The club's first meeting of the 2026/27 Season will be a Photoshare.  The theme will be Americana, in honor of the country's 250th Birthday as a Nation.  Up to four photos can be entered on Photo Contest Pro.  The photos can be on any 250th celebration event such as parades, re-enactments, fairs and/or other scenes that capture the spirit of 1776.  Shots may be taken anywhere where a U.S. 250th celebration or event is occurring.  Please avoid photos which may have a political message or reference.  

The meeting will be held in-person and broadcast on Webex. Whereas the meeting is open to the public, the photoshare is for members only.
