SCC Regular Club Meeting: Critique "Patterns"

  • Wednesday, February 12, 2014
  • 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
  • Sparta Ambulance Building, 14 Sparta Avenue, Sparta, NJ
THE MEETING IS ON AS SCHEDULED - NO CANCELLATION DUE TO IMPENDING WEATHER

Patterns are one of the basic elements of composition.  Patterns are all around us every day both natural and manmade.  The key is to be able to identify them and capture them in a unique way.
By filling your frame with a repetitive pattern, you can give the impression of size and large numbers. The key to this is to attempt to zoom in close enough to the pattern that it fills the frame and makes the repetition seem as though it’s bursting out (even if the repetition stops just outside of your framing).
Members are encouraged to send or bring in 2 prints and/or digital images that will best represent patterns.  For some examples of pattern images, please click on the link below:

During the meeting, the critique will be led by club officers, but regular club members will be called upon to offer up their own comments as learning how to critique well is a step forward in taking better photographs.
Please email your images to info@spartacameraclub.org no later than Saturday, February 8, 2014 at midnight. *Please put "Patterns" in the subject line without the quotes.  There are no class designations for critiques.

If you wish to enter prints in the competition, please bring them to the meeting on the night of the competition.
